About Ann Van Buskirk
Married for 37 years to her high school sweetheart , Ann Van Buskirk received her Ph. D. from Emory University and her undergraduate degree from Clemson (Go tigers!). Known as “Dr. Ann” to the students and families she serves throughout the DeKalb County School District, Ann also  practices psychology  privately part time in East Cobb. She and James have 3 sons who have abandoned them. Alexander, to pursue work in NYC, Ian attends graduate school in Colorado, and Spencer who does pricey soccer training (in the form of a liberal arts college). Concerned that his parents needed someone else to nurture in their absence, Alexander gifted Ann and James with Rowan, cutest Cavapoo puppy, and the youngest of 5  (yes-5!) Van B pets.
Ann’s professional interests include dialectical behavioral therapy, the intersection of faith and psychology, and the primacy of relationship in effecting change. Personal interests include flowers, reading, walking outside, and crafts that involve glue, glass or (most delightfully) both glue and glass. Cooking and mixing drinks for friends and family puts her in her happy place. She hosts regular matchmaking (disguised as breadmaking classes) sessions in her kitchen, in the hope that her sons and their friends will experience true love.
