NFCC Back-to-School School Supply Drive

NFCC Back-to-School School Supply Drive

NFCC is collecting new backpacks and school supplies to provide low-income children in our community with the tools they need to succeed academically. Last year NFCC distributed over 900 new backpacks filled with school supplies to children living in North Fulton. 

Backpack and Supply Donations

  • Donations can be dropped off Monday, July 29 – Friday, August 2, from 10am-4pm daily, to our Back To School Distribution Site, 11275 Elkins Rd. (to the left of MAACO). This site is not staffed full time, so please only drop off during these hours.

  • Download the 2019 Supply List to begin your shopping early.

  • Download a flyer about the program to share.

Financial Donations
Want to help send a child back to school? 

  • A $75 donation can buy a back pack and supplies for a high school student.

  • A $50 donation can buy a back pack and supplies for a middle school or elementary student.

  • A $25 donation can buy supplies for a teacher or student.

Food Pantry Needs of NFCC

These items are needed most:canned tuna chicken and meat, cereal and oatmeal, dried beans 1 lb bag, all types of pasta, pasta sauce, tomato sauce, tomato paste, meals in can, jelly/peanut butter, mac n cheese, flavored rice/pasta, ramen noodle packs, canned beans, black beans, refried beans, garbanzo. All toiletries; toothpaste, shampoo, soap, etc. families can not use food stamps for these so the need is high. 

Not needed: Green beans, corn, peas, soups, pumpkin, gravy, white beans and kidney beans

Please place these items in the bins outside the church office or you may drop them directly at NFCC at 11270 Elkins Road, Roswell

North Fulton Community Charities (NFCC) is the primary human services agency for residents in North Fulton County. NFCC has a client choice panty; their clients go to the computers in their lobby and choose the food their family needs so this is a list of the current NFCC needs.

The Drake House

Would you like to walk alongside a Drake House mom, or one of her children, while they reside at The Drake House?

This personal relationship provides support and encouragement during the family’s stay. Male and female advocates are needed for children ages 5-18, as well as female mom advocates.

The items that are in strong need currently at the Drake House are the following:
hand sanitizer, umbrellas, salt and pepper picnic shakers( found at the Dollar Tree), ziplock freezer quart bags, paper towels, coffee filters, size 5 and 6 disposable diapers, children's toothpaste, and tall kitchen bags.
If you would like to donate items please label them Drake House and put them in the bins outside the church office.

The Drake House After School Program is in need of Volunteers
The Drake House after school program is in need of male tutors, from 2:30-4:30 or 4:30-6:30 Monday-Friday.

The Drake House provides short-term crisis housing, education and empowerment programs for homeless single mothers and their children in North Fulton. Immediate  housing combined with an empowerment program are designed to provide stability for the children and assist the family in working toward housing self sufficiency.

1. Program Material Preparation
Spend some time in the HomeStretch office assisting the Program Director by updating and assembling New Family Welcome Books and Mentor Training Manuals. Schedule is flexible. 

2. Office Assistance
Volunteers are needed to staff the reception area, organize supplies and archive files. This is generally an on-going commitment a few hours each week but one-time help is also needed. 

3. Data Entry Assistance
Help the HomeStretch staff enter data into their internal systems. Training provided and the work is simple for anyone comfortable using a computer. Schedule is flexible.

4. Event Committee Member
Join the group of staff and volunteers who plan the Road Race held in March. Many roles are available to suit any time and talent you have.

HomeStretch is looking for a weekly volunteer to help the Facilities Staff with furniture donation pick-ups. This individual needs to be able to lift heavy and awkwardly shaped items.
